What is Naprapathy?

Naprapathic (nah-pra-path-thick) Medicine or Naprapathy (nuh-pra-puh-thee) is a natural, holistic treatment that utilizes gentle manipulation of the spine and other articulations of the body to correct connective tissue disorders. Doctors of Naprapathic Medicine use nueromyology (the study of nerve and muscle) to increase their understanding of these disorders and enhance the treatment of their patients. With the concept that constricted connective tissue (ligaments, muscles and tendons) interferes with nerve, blood and lymph flow; Naprapathy uses manual manipulation to open these channels of body function. Along with therapeutic modalities, exercise recommendations and nutritional counseling to compliment such treatment.

Naprapaths believe the body has inherent recuperative capabilities. Given the optimal environment, manipulation assists the body to heal thyself. Once a patient experiences the benefits of Naprapthic treatments, regular visits becomes an important part of their health care program.

Doctors of Naprapathy (naprapaths) are connective tissue specialists, but are not Doctors of Medicine and are not equivalent to those that hold MD Degree.

As these tissues shrink, normal function within the area decreases. Blood circulation and nerve pathways become constricted or irritated. Clinical studies have suggested that with manipulation and stretching be qualified practioners, these constricted or irritated pathways will have the opportunity to return to teh normal state needed by healthy bodies.
